Libyan National Army still loads its Mi-8s with cluster bombs

New photos published last weekend confirmed that the Libyan National Army  Air Force (LNA/AF) still uses cluster bombs. The photos below show one Mi-8T helicopter loaded with a RBK-250 under the right stub wing on Saturday, September 10, evening. The same night, LNA/AF media confirmed that one of its Mi-8s carried out air strike near the Acyl resort targeting supposed concentrations of IS and armed allied militias. This is the seventh time that the use of cluster munitions is reported in Libya.






On September 11, intensive sorties were performed by LNA/AF aircrafts (MiG-23MF) and helicopters (Mi-8, Mi-35) in the skies of Benghazi, Ajdabiya and Derna targeting :
- Minefields in Ganfouda area
- The operations room building in Ganfouda area
- Gathering mechanisms and militants in Ganfouda area
- The Sham camp in Ajdabiya (Mi-35)
- Militants and mechanisms in Zoatana and near the gate of Zoatana company

Armed reconnaissance flights were also carried out in both Ajdabiya and Ras Lanuf. MiG-21bis serial '404' jets targeted supposed concentrations of IS militants in the fish market. MiG-23ML serial '26453' striked a tank near the gate of Mina al zwaytina while MiG-23BN serial '4136' carried out reconnaissance sortie from Benghazi to Sidra area.

  1. Bonjour, je signale qu'un Hercules libyen est en cours de maintenance sur l'aéroport de Perpignan depuis quelques jours ou stationne déjà un Airbus 320 (si je ne me trompe pas, vu rapidement depuis la route, pad le temps de s'arrêter ) avec un gros drapeau libyen sur la dérive.
