"Libyan airstrikes" situation update 9 - 15 April 2016

During the past seven days, air operations have intensified compared to previous week. In the early morning hours of 9th April, Libyan National Army Air Force fighter jets carried out sorties with high accuracy on terrorist groups holed up inside the University of Benghazi and Nowruz resort. They also performed airstrikes in the vicinity of the cement plant and Souk El Hout.




The day after, one modified Mi-17 helicopter equipped with night vision system and six points suspension (payload 2500 kg) after modifications in Tobruk air base, implemented its first combat sorties. On 12th April, Libya National Army Air Force and Libya Dawn Air Force officials announced simultaneously the destruction of vehicles in a military convoy of Libyan terrorist organization IS. It was heading from Sirte to Sidra area. The same day, MiG-23ML "26453" and MiG-21MF "27" carried out armed reconnaissance mission North West of Benghazi destroying respectively four and six technical/bulldozers. On 13th, the Libyan Navy has reported to the operations room of "Operation Dignity" the presence of a boat about 40 km of the coast. This vessel was destroyed few time after by MiG-21MF "27". On 14th morning, the same "Fishbed" performed three sorties in Alkwarshh near cement factory.




During the night of 14th to 15th April, Mi-8 and Mi-17 helicopters carried out airstrikes targeting the Court in Ganfouda area, while operations continued with the rising of the Sun, where MiG-21UM "076" and MiG-23ML "26453" together with Mi-35, Mi-8 and Mi-17 realised eight air raids on several selected targets in Alkwarshh, Walnoakih and the cement plant.
