"Libyan airstrikes" situation update 23 - 29 April 2016

Following the last situation update, many airstrikes were performed last week by the two Libyan Air Forces. Indeed, the week was characterized by greater communication from the LDAF (Libya Dawn Air Force) about its air strikes and one of its two Mirage F1EDs returned to service. LNA AF (Libyan National Army Air Force) also published new photos of the wreckage of the Mi-14 crashed at Labraq airbase.



Operations

On 23rd April, the LNA AF released footage of Derna airstrikes which targeted MSCD (Mujahideen Shura Council in Derna) forces near the stadiums west of the city. LDAF targeted the ammunition stored inside Turkish company headquarters in Nofaliya area, resulting in a large explosion. This airstrike was also claimed by LNA AF which means that LNA AF and LDAF seems to be coordinated ...



All the day, LNA AF bombed locations and concentrations of terrorist militias around the city of Derna, and attacked miltants of the following locations :
  • The headquarters near the public Works company
  • An ammunition store near the village of Tamsket in the highest hill of Derna
  • Concentration of terrorists stationing in the poppies
  • An ammunition store near the Chinese company
  • An ammunition store south of Derna in Red Hill
  • Mechanisms near the back breaker red area
  • Mechanisms near homes of Bouchtale
The same day, Sraya media published pictures of SCBR (Shura Council of Benghazi Revolutionaries) who targeted a Mi-17 with artillery in Benina air base. The helicopter was safe.


On 27th April, LDAF aircrafts from Misrata reportedly conducted airstrikes 50 km west of Sirte. The day after, they targeted gathering of ISIS in the vicinity nofaliya.


A large convoy was reported moving towards Sirte with air cover of Mi-35 ... Around 200 vehicles arrived 20 km east of Ajdabiya. GNA urged all sides not to move against ISIS in Sirte without its coordination and leadership. In the evening, one Mi-35 from Labraq AB targeted a store of ammunition at the western entrance to the city of Derna belonging to Abu Salim Martyrs Brigade.
